These developments will be based on an interregional partnership \u2013 where the Spanish and Greek innovators will integrate and test the demo plant under operational conditions while the Spanish wine producer organisation (and Greek organisations as support entities) will engage the end users and regional stakeholders in co-creation and collaboration processes.<\/p><p>All this will allow to make SMARTWINERY relevant for the industries and economies in the established and emerging European wine producing regions,\u00a0contributing to increasing the competitiveness of the European wine Such includes a commitment to new technologies and more efficient and sustainable production methods.<\/p><p>However, this can be challenging for the EU small and medium-sized wineries since these still rely on traditional production methods. Through the integration of innovative processing steps and their digitalization, SMARTWINERY:<\/p><p>1. Improves the control of key wine parameters (evolution of fermentation, wine redox potential, SO2 levels during processing) and accelerates key stages in the production process (e.g., extraction of desired grape compounds: greater increase in phenolic compounds, polysaccharides and typical aromas of grape variety, wine stabilization during aging).<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-09ca31d elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"09ca31d\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Thus, SMARTWINERY allows for doubling the processing capacity in the same facility (processing more kilograms of grapes at the same time, space savings due to a greater use of the installed deposits).<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-d82bf71 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"d82bf71\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>2. These developments will be based on an interregional partnership \u2013 where (i) the Spanish and Greek innovators will integrate and test the demo plant under operational conditions while (ii) the Spanish wine producer organisation (and Greek organisations as support entities) will engage the end users and regional stakeholders in co-creation and collaboration processes.<\/p><p>All this will allow to make SMARTWINERY relevant for the industries and economies in the established and emerging European wine producing regions,\u00a0contributing to increasing the competitiveness of the European wine industry and regional sustainability.<\/p><p><strong>Specific Objective 1:\u00a0<\/strong>To design the upscaled and digitalized\u00a0<strong>SMARTWINERY demo plant<\/strong>\u00a0and to demonstrate the\u00a0<strong>integration of the technological solutions<\/strong>.<\/p><p><strong>Specific Objective 2:\u00a0<\/strong>To\u00a0<strong>characterize the configuration and process variables<\/strong>\u00a0(e.g., time, temperature, oxygenation) of SMARTWINERY to\u00a0<strong>optimize production yields<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>energy consumption<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>wine quality<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>environmental performance<\/strong>.<\/p><p><strong>Specific Objective 3:\u00a0<\/strong>To\u00a0<strong>ensure market adequacy<\/strong>\u00a0of the project developments (via a participatory approach of the end users in the design of SMARTWINERY), and an\u00a0<strong>interregional impact of the SMARTWINERY innovation<\/strong>\u00a0(via regional stakeholder engagement).<\/p><p><strong>Specific Objective 4:\u00a0<\/strong>To set the necessary aspects for\u00a0<strong>industrialising the production<\/strong>\u00a0of the different components of SMARTWINERY,\u00a0establishing a module-based device\u00a0\u201con demand\u201d with a range of processing capabilities and accessories, <strong>to meet the needs of each client<\/strong>.<\/p><p><strong>Specific Objective 5:\u00a0<\/strong>To ensure\u00a0<strong>wide visibility of the project\u00b4s results<\/strong>\u00a0among the key target audiences and the general public.<\/p><p>The SMARTWINERY project will result in a demo plant, co-created with and open to wine producers, thanks to which the solution scale-up will be user relevant, thus accelerating market uptake.
